A Unique Vermont Home
This green home is the ultimate eco-retreat. Both of the hand-sculpted round buildings—in the style of Mongolian yurts—are works of art, designed for sustainability.

The Round Main House
Encompassing 1,000 square feet (we like to say "round feet") of living area, the main house includes a semicircular great room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. A sleeping loft covers half the second floor.

A beautifully crafted and efficient Woodstock Soapstone stove heats the main house. Soapstone gives off very even comfortable heat, while burning little wood. Both yurts need less than three cords of wood per winter to keep them cozy, far less than most Vermont homes. The main house also has radiant floor heat (currently fueled by propane, but upgrade-ready to active solar hot water heat).
The main entrance and side entrance utilize highly energy efficient glassed doors that let in a stream of daylight. The south-facing walls are lined with super energy efficient Andersen windows that add to the flood of natural light.

The kitchen features a SunFrost refrigerator/freezer, one of the most energy efficient models available. The great room, bedroom and kitchen feature sustainably harvested bamboo floors, while the bathroom is elegantly tiled. The great room ceiling fan is one the most energy efficient models on the market. The bathroom includes a washer hookup. This green home is equipped with a three bedroom in-ground septic system and has a drilled well with excellent mountain drinking water.

The main house interior is highlighted by artistic details, including a large oak tree rising gracefully toward the ceiling (this tree once grew precisely where the house now stands). White ash details flank windows and doors. A wattle-and-daub opening between the great room and bedroom is ideal for hanging plants. A stunning birdseye maple beam supports the sleeping loft. Spruce rafters, harvested from the land, rise like spokes in a wheel to an oaken ring and round skylight. The ceiling is made of Vermont white pine.

The Studio Cottage
The round studio cottage right next door offers an additional 200 square feet of living space. It serves as an ideal office with its high speed satellite internet connection. It is also perfect as an artist’s or writer’s studio, or music space. The sweet natural acoustics of this round earthen/plaster space simply must be heard to be appreciated! The cottage also can serve as a children’s playroom / bedroom, guestroom, meditation or yoga space.

The artistic features of the studio cottage echo the main house, with a bank of south-facing Andersen windows, native Vermont white pine flooring and spruce rafters, from the land, rising up to an oak encircled skylight.
